Vance Heads to Peace Talks, Warns Iran Not to “Play” U.S. ━ The European Conservative

As he departed for peace talks set to begin in Pakistan, U.S. vice president JD Vance warned Iran not to attempt to “play” Washington.

Speaking to reporters prior to take-off from Joint Base Andrews, Vance said the United States was prepared to engage constructively if Iran approached the negotiations seriously. “We’re going to try to have a positive negotiation,” he stated, adding that Washington is willing to “extend the open hand” if Tehran acts in good faith.

At the same time, he made clear that the U.S. would not tolerate insincere tactics, stating

If they’re going to try to play us, then they’re going to find the negotiating team is not that receptive.

The talks come after Washington and Iran agreed to a two-week truce following more than five weeks of conflict.
