Strait of Hormuz will open, but only for those who comply with our terms, says Iranian official

Ebrahim Azizi, head of the National Security Committee of the Iranian Parliament, warned that the United States will no longer have access to the Strait of Hormuz and that, from now on, only those who comply with Iran’s terms will be allowed to pass ships through the strategically important strait.

“Trump achieved regime change—but for the Strait,” Azizi said in a post on X, adding: “The Strait will definitely open, but not for you. It will be open to those who comply with Iran’s new laws,” he wrote, without specifying what those new terms are.

“Forty-seven years of hospitality are over forever,” he added.

Azizi’s statements come in response to an announcement by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who earlier today said that the UK will host a meeting of 35 countries tomorrow to discuss ways to reopen the Strait.
