The film “Peaky Blinders” starring Cillian Murphy premiered in Birmingham

The world premiere of the highly anticipated movie “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” took place in Birmingham, with glamorous stars and fans in attendance, several of whom wore the signature flat caps.

Fans gathered to see Cillian Murphy and his co-stars up close, including Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth, as they arrived at Symphony Hall for the film’s big-screen screening. The drama is a sequel to Steven Knight’s successful series, with the Oscar-winning Murphy reprising his legendary role as Tommy Shelby.

At the glamorous event, the lead actor said that the city and Peaky Blinders are inseparably linked, adding that it was entirely fitting for the premiere to take place there. “It’s important for the fans, for Steven Knight, I think it’s very important. Steve wrote it based on stories his parents told him while he was growing up here. It’s huge, you can’t separate the two,” Murphy said.

Earlier, Steven Knight spoke about the power of fans in the series’ success, saying: “It was the energy for the series from the very beginning. It was never heavily promoted or advertised; fans discovered it and then started talking about it.”

The premiere was attended by John Taylor of Duran Duran, Karen Carney, as well as Aston Villa players: Jadon Sancho, Ezri Konsa, Tammy Abraham, and Morgan Rogers.

The official synopsis of the film reads:
“Birmingham, 1940. Amid the chaos of World War II, Tommy Shelby is forced to return from a self-imposed exile to face the most destructive reckoning of his life yet. With the future of his family and country at stake, Tommy must confront his own demons and choose whether to embrace his legacy or burn it entirely.”
