Tragedy at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport: 67-year-old disabled woman falls from lift and dies in hospital

The woman had arrived on a flight from Kefalonia. During her exit from the aircraft using a special lift, she and her companion fell from a small height, resulting in severe injuries to the woman, according to ERT.

Emergency responders from EKAB provided first aid on site and transported her alive to G. Gennimatas Hospital, where she later passed away.

According to sources, after the fall, the EKAB medical team at the airport clinic responded following protocol. The Mobile Medical Unit, including a doctor and paramedic, retrieved her from the scene, initially assessing her at the airport clinic before transferring her to Gennimatas Hospital for further treatment. She was conscious and speaking when handed over to the hospital’s emergency department.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
